Harmonia vs Shopify Collabs: a fairer alternative for Shopify brands
A Shopify Collabs alternative for US Health & Wellness brands: first-party attribution with no discount code, a 20% fee on top billed to the brand, and daily Stripe payouts once the invoice clears.
Most affiliate networks take 30% of the commission. We take 20%.
On a $50 commission, your athlete earns the full $40. On a legacy 30%-take network, they would keep $35. Verifiable on every payout.
Get paid the moment your earnings clear, not on a fixed monthly date.
Daily-when-eligible payout sweep with a $25 floor. Legacy networks batch payouts to a single fixed monthly date.
LLM-driven quality scoring and Stripe-verified KYC — not paste-this-code-in-your-bio.
Identity verification is automated. Brands sort and search athletes by a real quality signal, not a social-handle inspection.
The short version
If you run a Shopify store and want creators to earn commission on real sales, Shopify Collabs is the native option built into Shopify admin. It is a reasonable first step for a brand that wants a free, in-Shopify way to find creators and pay them.
Harmonia is built for one thing Collabs is not built for: a curated affiliate program for a US Health & Wellness brand that does not discount. We credit sales server-side through your Shopify store, with no discount code for the customer to enter. The athlete keeps the full commission you set. We add a 20% platform fee on top, billed to you. Payouts run daily through Stripe Connect once your invoice clears, and 1099-NEC forms are issued automatically at year-end.
That is the trade. Free and native, versus curated and purpose-built for a vertical that protects its pricing. The rest of this page walks the differences, feature by feature, with the numbers attached.
Attribution: server-side, no discount code
Most creator programs track sales with a discount code. The creator shares a code, the customer types it at checkout, and the order is credited. That works, but it has a cost: the code is a discount, and a premium brand that protects its pricing ends up training customers to wait for one.
Harmonia tracks sales a different way:
- First-party, server-side attribution through your Shopify store. When someone clicks an athlete's tracking link and buys, the order is credited automatically. There is no discount code for the customer to enter and nothing for them to remember.
- A Shopify custom app does the work. It registers an
orders/createwebhook and injects a small script that writes the?ref=value into the Shopify cart note attribute. The order is matched to the athlete on our server. - Credit holds for the attribution window. If the customer clicks today and buys a few days later, the sale still counts, up to the window you set per program.
Because the customer never enters a code, your list price stays intact. You can read the full mechanism in attribution without discount codes.
Why this matters for premium brands
A discount code is a price cut on every attributed sale. First-party attribution credits the sale without one, so a brand that does not discount can run an affiliate program without changing how it prices.
The fee: 20% on top, never out of the athlete's payout
This is the line we put up front, because it is the one most affiliate programs leave vague.
You set the commission per program. Say $50 per sale. Your athlete receives the full $50. We add a 20% platform fee, $10, on top, billed to you. Your total cost is $60. The fee is charged only when an athlete drives a real attributed sale.
$50athlete keeps, in fullThe athlete keeps 100% of the commission you set. The platform fee is never deducted from their payout. That is a different model from programs where the platform's cut comes out of the creator's earnings. See the full math in how athletes get paid and the take rate on pricing.
Commission is yours to set
There is no platform-wide rate. You set the commission per program, as a flat dollar amount or a flat percentage, whichever fits the product. Huel might set $10 per sale; a footwear brand might set $9 per pair. Tiered, per-SKU, and retainer structures are not part of the current version.
Payouts and taxes: automatic, on a schedule you can read
Here is exactly when athletes get paid, with the numbers:
- Daily through Stripe Connect, once your invoice clears. We invoice you monthly via Stripe Billing, net-30, on the 1st of the following month: the commission your athletes earned plus the 20% fee. Athletes are paid from that commission once your invoice clears.
- A $25 minimum. Balances under $25 roll forward to the next payout, so we are not sending tiny transfers.
- December 15 year-end force-pay. On December 15 we pay out any remaining balance regardless of the minimum, so nothing sits unpaid over a year boundary.
- Automatic 1099-NEC at year-end. Stripe issues the 1099-NEC for athletes who clear the IRS threshold. The athlete's SSN and bank details are never exposed to anyone, including the brand and Harmonia.

Partners: curated, verified, and quality-scored
Harmonia is not an open marketplace where anyone can promote anything. Partners are vetted three ways, and approval runs in both directions:
- Curated, invite-only for the launch cohort. New athletes join through a single-use invite that is bound to their email and expires after 30 days.
- Identity-verified through Stripe Connect KYC. Stripe handles the ID check at payout setup. Browsing and applying are open from the start; only the payout step is gated by verification.
- LLM-quality-scored, as a signal not a gate. Each athlete carries a click quality score you can sort on when you compare applicants. It is a sortable signal, never an automatic clawback and never an approval gate. You make the call.
- Two-way veto. You approve the athlete, and the athlete accepts your program and its terms. Neither side joins without the other.

Tracked links: per program, with QR codes and tags
Each brand relationship gets one tracking link, not one per product. From that link an athlete can:
- Generate a QR code for in-person or printed use.
- Add anchor and destination tags that point to a specific product or landing page.
Every one of those preserves the same ?ref= value, so attribution holds no matter how the athlete shares the link.
Where each one fits
Shopify Collabs is native to Shopify admin and free for the merchant. If you want a built-in, no-cost way to find creators and pay commission on Shopify orders, and a discount-code-based program fits your pricing, Collabs is a sound choice and you already have it.
Harmonia is the right answer when you are a US Health & Wellness brand that does not discount, wants partners you and they both chose, and wants the money side handled end to end: server-side attribution with no code, a published 20% fee billed to you on top of commission, daily Stripe payouts once your invoice clears, and automatic 1099-NEC forms. We focus on one vertical on purpose, so the defaults fit how wellness brands run programs.

FAQ
Is Harmonia a good Shopify Collabs alternative?
It depends on what you need. Shopify Collabs is a free, native creator tool inside Shopify admin. Harmonia is a curated affiliate platform built for US Health & Wellness brands that do not discount. If you want first-party attribution with no discount code, a published 20% fee billed to you on top of commission, daily Stripe payouts, and automatic 1099-NEC forms, Harmonia is built for that. If you want a free, in-Shopify creator tool and a discount-code program fits your pricing, Collabs may be the simpler fit.
Can I migrate my existing affiliate program to Harmonia?
Yes. You connect Stripe billing, install the Shopify custom app, run a self-test to confirm attribution end to end, set your commission and windows, then publish. Athletes join through invites for the launch cohort. There is no annual contract, setup fee, or commission bond. See running a curated affiliate program for the full setup path.
How does Harmonia track affiliate sales without a discount code?
A Shopify custom app injects a script that writes the athlete's ?ref= value into the Shopify cart note attribute, and registers an orders/create webhook. When an order comes in, it is matched to the athlete on our server. The customer never enters a code. Because it is first-party and server-side, attribution holds across ad blockers, tracking-prevention settings, and a switch between browsers. Details are in attribution without discount codes.
When do affiliates get paid, and is there a payout minimum?
Payouts run daily through Stripe Connect once your brand's monthly invoice clears, with a $25 minimum. Balances under $25 roll forward to the next payout. On December 15 we pay out any remaining balance regardless of the minimum, so nothing carries unpaid across the year boundary. The full timeline is in how athletes get paid.
Is the platform fee deducted from the affiliate's commission?
No. The athlete keeps 100% of the commission you set. The 20% platform fee is added on top and billed to you, the brand. If you set a $50 commission, the athlete receives the full $50 and your total cost is $60. The fee is charged only when an athlete drives a real attributed sale.
